Personal Information for Job Interview?

2

Comments

  • I don't want to mention too much about the recruiter but i can confirm it was through the official NHS Jobs website that i first noticed and applied for this role as an Administrator, it is a bog standard 18k a year role (nothing senior). The official website did take me to another website where i had to make a separate account.(I think this was called trac-jobs).

I have other interviews coming up which don't ask for anything near this amount of information so i think i will let one of the other 143 get this one.

Trac jobs is totally independent and not part of the NHS. Assuming that is actually where you landed. I suspect you have been sidelined to a spoof site

I can almost guarantee that this information is being requested by the agency (or scam site) rather than the NHS trust. Whether by mistake or attempting info harvesting it's impossible to say.

As you're moving on from it anyway, please identify the trust just so someone can put your mind at rest you've done the right thing.

And of course this is way over the top regarding your financial background.

I agree with jillanddy - you've been diverted to a fake site phishing for personal info.

As a former NHS manager I'd suggest you alert NHS Jobs and the NHS trust in question that you followed a link from their official websites to one which you can only conclude was trying to deceive you into revealing personal financial info as part of an attempted scam.

They need to know this in order to improve their own IT security - and if you are going to continue using NHS Jobs yourself, you want it to be safer, don't you?

Some NHS employers do use trac jobs and transfer your application over to it from the NHS jobs website so that on its own isn't a red flag.

ETA: IMO the most likely explanation is that somewhere in the chain of setting up the advert somebody ticked the wrong box for "level of background check required"

I work for the NHS and applied for jobs recently. They do require proof sending over so you can prove your identity and right to work in the UK

But its 2 forms of photo ID and one showing your address. Bank statement, passport and driving licence i emailed across. I used paint to blank out passport number etc as they dont need to know this

I have the document they send out to all interviewees, it doesnt list what you have said. So something dodgy is going on

How much Information is too much just to have an Interview?

In order to attend my recent NHS job interview i have been told to upload the following: Proof of the last ten years of full time work, All details of Bank accounts you own including bonds and credit cards etc, Proof of Address for the last ten since birth, Full vaccination status, Driving License/Passport and NI number and NHS number if applicable, 2 employment referees and one character.

Is it me or is this excessive, i was reading the other day how some managers inside Santander were stealing peoples personal information and i can't help think what a field day a scammer would have with these details if they got into the wrong hands.

I used to remember handing over less information than this when starting a job in the past but times are changing, when i asked customer service about this they told me i am one of only 143 candidates for the role and so the information is stored in a cloud system, this does not reassure me but i have a feeling this might become standard for most jobs.

Good point from UnderOffer above. However, assuming this is genuine.....

It doesn't matter whether you, I or anybody else think it is excessive or not! They are quite entitled to ask and not employ anybody who won't comply.

Obviously if it puts enough people off and they can't get suitable applicants they will have to re-think their policy.

For what it is worth, whilst I can see why it may seem excessive, those working for the NHS have access to very personal information and may be dealing with extremely vulnerable people who might be completely unable to deal with their own affairs. If you were in that category would you not be reassured to know that those looking after you had been thoroughly vetted?

I think they will, once they get to doing a DBS check.

If your concern is about being identified from your posting, it's unlikely they'd track you down from how ever many of 144 people didn't provide the documents.

Possibly, but just give them the bare essentials until they ask for more.

The idea of an image of my passport, driving licence or whatever just sat on someone Inbox doesnt sit well with me. I know they're meant to delete the email after dealing with it, but how many really do. And how many delete it from their deleted items.

Doesnt take much for an email account to be compromised if stuff like 2FA isnt set up
