Virgin Money Bounce Back loan rip off

Are there any other small businesses finding Virgin's account handling to be opportunistic charges as you attempt to pay the Bounce back loan off?

What opportunistic charges are they applying?
  • I am due to start paying £216.66 per month on the 22nd of November over a 5 year payback arrangement on a £13k BB loan.
On the 1st of Nov I got a text saying I have failed to pay £8.09 interest.
On enquiry, I have been told by several Virgin Customer Service staff to ignore that as it will be paid by the government, and the only thing I need to do is put £216.66 in before the 22n each month.
I get a letter on 2 Nov (dated 1 Nov) saying they had a return Payment of £8.08
Several calls to Virgin and some Customer Service agents say forget about it, others say they are charging interest from 1 Nov and it is owed. (Meanwhile the loan only becomes due on 22nd Nov - so I am confused).
on 10 Nov I pay in £13,008.09 and request that the BB loan is paid off - all to be on the safe side.
on 10 Nov Virgin take £13017 to pay off the BB loan - and shut me out of the loan account access.
on 10 Nov I note the current account is now £8.91 overdrawn - so I pay that off immediately to be on the safe side.
The accounts now read £0 balance
11 Nov I get a letter from Virgin, dated 10 Nov saying the account has gone into unarranged borrowings and warnings of penalties to be applied - and to call their team
I've called them 9 or 10 times, initiated a complaint.
  • 20 minutes after posting this a very nice lady from Virgin has called me.
She has arranged to settle and close the account to my satisfaction.
    Is that a coincidence?
Either way I am very grateful that Virgin has seen sense and opted to help and not hinder.
