Traveling to USA testing requirments

Morning Folks

I appologise if this has been asked before , i've had a look and couldnt really find anything, My girlfriend and i are travelling to newyor on the 10th of Dec for 4 days which we are really looking forward too, we are both in our forties and fully vaccinated.
My question is what kind of test do i need to take 3 days before i fly to the USA is it an antigen (lateral flow) or PCR?, i think its laterflow but just double checking , can anyone recommend a supplier/testing company for an at home test also please if possible thats suitable for entry to the USA.
We are flying with aer Lingus from Birmingham to Dublin then on to NYC with customs cleared in the USA , we have done this before and it's great, another question i have though is will i need to complete a passenger locator form for Dublin on both the outward and return journey even though i'm only transiting?

Any help,or suggestions will be very much appreciated .

   Thanks

Are you on a straight through ticket or is it a hack fare (ie you'll have to collect your luggage and then check in again in Dublin)?

I'd assume its a hack fare to leverage Dublin's lower taxes on long haul.
