O/S Daily Friday 12 November 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, dry under foot but rain a possibility later.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken, pasta in sauce and veg rice.
Yesterday I was productive, and got done what I wanted so today I'll be food shopping first thing, few things for us to take and supplies for eldest whilst we're away. Really looking forward to getting away. Had a bit of a disaster with my mainframe computer, it was working fine first thing then later I switched it on to look something up and it wouldn't boot up and had an error message appear, so the tower is now at the repair place and I'll have to use this laptop until I get tower back. Hoping its nothing to serious although guy in repair place looked bac on records and it was in May when we had similar problems so they are looking into that possibly a problem with a part.
Today after food shopping I have nail appt, then this afternoon pedicure and polish, then waxing, ouch, but needs must!
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, have a good time away.
Wet and windy this morning but it's Friday so can only be a good day! I have my flu jab this evening, not looking forward to it as I usually have a reaction the next day but at least I can rest for the weekend.
Glad you're managing to get some much needed sleep Gers.
Hope you and your DDad are OK Nanny.
You sound more upbeat TA, it's good to talk and we're all good listeners!
Washing fairly up to date, will clean the bathrooms and have a dust and hoover round later. There's a stack of Christmas presents upstairs to wrap, may make a start on that this weekend so I can see what I have.
Have a good Friday if you can, take care. XX13 -

He certainly livens us up.I hope everyone has a good day, and that those struggling with life at the moment will soon feel better.Take care folks.13

Good morning
Rotten nights sleep, gave up at 4.30 and got up 😴 been watching catch up TV.
Going to meet a friend for coffee ☕ this morning after she finishes her night shift.
I cleaned all the woodwork in the bedroom yesterday so will start undercoating when I get back, then depending how quickly it dries may start on the gloss.
No idea what's for dinner will go and look in the freezer for inspiration.
Have a good day 🌻13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's a dark start here and apparently rain is due, and to be here all day. I didn't have the best of starts as I was woken at 5 by the house phone ringing. It rang off before I could grab it. I did 1471 and it was one of those stupid numbers used by nuisance callers. Of course by then I was wide awake. I hope this isn't going to be a regular time for them to start hassling. Grrr!!
I have the delights of the Friday Tidy today but I made my usual Thursday head start by cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, and steaming both floors. I even cleaned the oven and, horror of horrors, the dishwasher filter!
I have two boxes of stocking fillers in the little bedroom so plan on sorting that out this afternoon and just see what's what in there! I still haven't got the big presents for the family, I'm waiting for inspiration to strike!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad or lonely. Take care one and all and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning all
No rain here atm but due later I think, off to work for me but I am finishing a bit earlier today as I have an appointment, still nothing about my wages but I will hopefully hear today.
Not sure about dinner tonight I will go and look in the freezer after this, I think there is some mince in there so might do a spag bol.
DW needs emptying and I shall put a wash on before work.
I could have slept for another few hours this morning whats the betting I am awake at 6 at the weekend
Got a lot of birthdays coming up so may sit and wrap some presents at the weekend, I really hate wrapping but it needs to be done.
Have good days all and take care xxx13 -
Morning folks.I've been awake for a while too though I slept well. I'm watching dawn spreading whilst waiting for my weekly call from Australia. It's got more complicated since the clocks went back here, also Melbourne and Brisbane are in different time zones.Yesterday I spent some time wrapped in my electric throw, the weather didn't seem cold enough to light the wood burner so I was very cosy without being too hot. Mind you the forecast is for very cold weather coming in from Sunday with the threat of snow for a week. I'm never sure of these forecasts but will prep for it anyway. This morning I plan to drive up to Oban for some shopping and mooching. My thoughts are with our poorlies, I really hope they feel better. Happy Friday to everyone. 💕14

Good morning everyone
Yet again I have woken up like the duracell bunny (long may it last) so have planned another kitchen day. I want to make a quiche, a lasagne and a fruit cake and also some extra pastry for more mince pies. The orange ones were nice but I think my pastry is better so I will stick to my tried and tested recipe.
I have some more wrapping to crack on with this afternoon. I have finished buying for the grandchildren, my kids and partners and I have mostly finished Steve's. He was moaning that he didn't know what to get me this year so I said that I would like to have a go at cake decorating in the New Year so now he has plenty of things to choose from.
First things first, I need to have a shower and get dressed but I will wait for Steve to get up as he didn't come to bed before 2am. I'm also very hungry so I will put some bacon under the grill for a bacon butty.
Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx14 -
Just a quick good morning to everyone

Morning all Well the window fitters came hurrah so the renderer has been informed and he may be able to fit us in before xmas but that means scaffolding round the house all through xmas and the new year fine by me i can decorate it with lots of twinkling lights I am just pleased that finally a year later work is getting going . The fitters are back today for the bifold doors and to replace a pane of glass that cracked as well as the inside window boards . My lurgy is holding on but getting a bit better each day just the runny nose and cough left now I think i will leave my booster for another week just to see the tail end of this off .
Gers glad you are getting a better nights sleep
TA GRRR to the phone call maybe have a nana nap later
I need to sort the presents out upstairs and start wrapping so may ask DH to come to town with me at the weekend to get the last few bits and paper
Right better get the dog walked and settled before the mayhem not sure what's for dinner will have a root round the freezer in a bit .
Have a great day whatever you are up to stay safe and warm xxxSlava Ukraini12 -
Morning all, I'm up early, that's twice this week but DGD is here again. DD took her for her dentist appointment yesterday and he took out 2 back teeth 😲. Bless her she's fine in herself but DD is worried for her in school as she's still a bit puffy, plus they won't be able to give her any pain medicine. I so missed that bullet as I'd rather it was me than a little one, I'm a bit squeamish where they are concerned. We have promised to take her to a large garden centre this morning, I hope they've put up their xmas displays, they're usually very good.I rang Dad yesterday and he was a different person, seems he was able to sort out his missing scripts himself. Apparently he hadn't had any since August and said he had been living on his stocks, WHAT ? That tells me he hadn't been taking the correct dosage for quite a while, I'll have to keep a closer eye on that. We have now registered him with our chemist and will take over his re-ordering, then we know when his script is to run out. All hail our surgery too for going above and beyond for him.Nothing housework wise will be happening today, DGD and I may be having jacket potatoes with grated cheese for lunch, Mr Fix It will choose later, unless we decide have lunch out and there's something suitable.Take care all, hope you have a good Friday.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11
