what information should be asked for if you apply for finance?

Options
Applying for finance for a boiler:247staywarm wanted my bank account sort code and account number to pass on to the finance company.I refused. Checked my score on Experian free check- they wanted to know a credit card company and two bank accounts - both using  multiple choice questions. NO numbers asked for.
I am very risk averse since I was  badly financially scammed. Must I accept that either I freeze or give in and cough up my bank numbers?

They want your sort code and account number to set up a Direct Debit msot likely.

    It's not an unreasonable request.

You do know that your sort code and account number is printed on every cheque in your chequebook?  It's not a state secret.

No, the other option is to pay for the boiler outright.
If you want to apply for credit, then bank account details are a pretty standard thing that they ask for.  As well as providing part of an identity verification, they are commonly used - as stated by the previous poster - to set up a direct debit to collect the repayments.

I agree with the others commenting. Giving your sort code and account number is quite a standard requirement nowadays. Even for my eBay account. . .  nobody can get your money with just those two pieces of information. Well, so far they haven't got at mine, anyway.

If you want the finance (after all, it's their money and all lenders have to be careful) you just have to jump through a few hoops. Cough up your bank numbers, you will benefit in the end.  :)

This is becoming common now. Good chance that a fraudster will not know all these details.

I have taken to noting all these details. As they are easily lost in the fog of time.
