    Fair do's.
It's someone taking a liberty, right enough - since your space has your flat number on it, there is zero excuse. It's just rude...

As for that buddleia we have one at the front of ours, light trims are a waste of time, they grow too quick.

Take it right back then keep on top of it spring/summer too keep it in check where it blocks the window.

You have decided you don't want to be "management" but what about asking to be involved with what they do as one of the owner occupiers it is in your interest to have the block managed effectively there may be ways you can assist and be more aware of the thought processes of those that are doing the job.

    Thanks for this .
The offshoot of the Buddleia saga , was that the director next door acted swiftly and the " gardeners " employed by the managing agents did indeed cut the thug of a plant down to their idea of a manageable level . I wasn't impressed with the height of the branches that they left it at, so I cut it down on 3 occasions . The last being yesterday .
I'll leave it to grow back ,and see the state of play in the spring .
The previous gardening co.'s were much better and I will mention this in the next agm

As for being part of the setup and being involved with the management side of things , I think that ship has sailed . Trying to be brief here with difficulty  , but my observations of the director next door ; 1) when I mentioned the wooden flooring being installed in the upstairs flat he was telling me what a nice chap the owner was. That owner is a buy to let landlord who has undesireable tenants which I had to sort out their problems myself
    2) when a new set of tenants were living opposite ( 2 cars again ), they parked one of their cars outside their windows by the plants . I mentioned to the director that it is wrong . I don't want someone trying that on outside my window . He didn't like what I said
    3) he had 2 cats . Both killed by cars . He should know better than to have outdoor cats by a busy road where we are. He is talking of getting another 2 from next door etc and not the proper authorities who would rightfully decline .
    3) The landlord of the other flat is arrogant . He is deaf , and with me wearing a mask when we first had to discuss issues it was comical in a bad way. The director next door likes him
I do not . He had an expanding family as tenants who were treating the whole house as theirs and not 4 seperate flats. My building / contents insurance would not have been valid due to them leaving bikes, prams , footballs in the communal area. He approached me twice for a key to the riser cupboard for the electric meter . He should have one . I had to pay £10 for mine . I mentioned his tenants . " what about the damage they did to my flat" he said not caring about his responsibility at all. He is now a director . I objected .

The other thing is that I don't want to have any contact with the druggies upstairs and want to keep myself to myself . Out of sight out of mind . They know I complained about their random drug parties but they have now stopped 🤞The bloke knocked on my door asking for the key to the cupboard . I didn't open my door and told them I haven't got it and I'm sending away for one . Maybe he's planning a party at xmas .
    Best stay clear .

This is turning into some kind of soap opera 😸

Update ; I bumped into the director next door . The car was gone . He told me who it was and that was okay . I had notice , sellotape and scissors which were not needed.
Anyhow we had a friendly discussion . I let him know that I had to phone police last Saturday as 3 or 4 youths were jumping up and down on the wall outside my bedroom window . They were gone within 10 -15 mins thankfully although police said they would have come out and moved them on. This brought me to the subject of the druggiy upstairs  ,as there is a chance they were waiting for him to go to a party .

I have to say that this flat has increased my anxiety level over 5he last year due to self isolating , recovering from a health condition and having upstairs neighbours having random drug parties . I could see myself trying to contain my anger when explain8ng to the director about me not being happy about the parties or the wooden flooring and telling him I know the address of the landlord and woulld have visited him in unsociable hours complaining about his druggy tenants . I said too much . Not good , but at least it's off of my chest I guess...

He was telling me about new tenants living below the other director opposite and her concerns . The landlord never advertised via estate agent , but  had six people looking at the flat in a very short time . The amount of vacant flats don't hang around for long it seems .

    I'll leave it there ..

Where we used to rent, our house came with 2 car parking spaces off street. Most people had to park on the street (the spaces are in an off road area with other days about 200m from the house).
We didn't have a car when we moved in and only got one half way through our stay.
We found out that someone else in the street had been sending abusive emails to our landlord because we were only using one of our parking spaces?!??
Now no-one ever bothered to talk to us about it or ask because if they had, our view would have been "no problem you parking there, if we had visitors, you'll need to park elsewhere whilst we use it" (we had a friend visit twice for 5 hours maximum over the visits in 6 months).
We then got abuse when we moved out because we blocked in a car that was in our space without our permission and the owner had to wait 5 minutes whilst we finished loading up our van (we'd parked out the way, but blocking our spaces only and had nearly loaded up when they dame out to go somewhere).
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.

    What would I do?

If I didn't drive and had my own designated parking space I would rent it out.

Especially if I lived near the station
  • About 10 years ago I lived in a small flat which had a private car park at the back which was only shared with a office next to us (the staff there was VERY snooty) I didn't drive but saw relatives quite often who had to instead park a few minutes away as someone was always in my numbered parking space.

Not the end of the world but I dislike when people do it without permission, I lived somewhere after that the people in the block across the road who had 2 cars and a works van parked all 3 in the 3 spaces for my block (which had 6 flats) and got agressive when I mentioned to it as "you don't work, we do"

    Really gets to me.
