Holiday / Pregnancy

Options
Morning All,

I booked a couple of UK destination holidays for 2022. One for Devon at the end of May and one in Cornwall in middle of June. We have recently found out that my partner is pregnant (I Thank You) and will be due around end of July - Early days at the minute i know but I'm already looking at the holidays as there is a possibility we may not be able to make them. I never took out cover when i booked the holidays as it was unplanned so am not looking at taking out holiday insurance to cover us incase we have any complications.

Without looking would holiday insurance cover us for any eventuality shouldn't we be able to make either holiday due to the pregnancy?  I've never worried about travel insurance before as we've always had staycations so i'm rather clueless as to how they work and what they cover etc.....

Many Thanks

  • Probably not, given you now know about it.
  • Thank you, I've been doing some research online and different companies word / define it differently from others so i'll have to tread carefully and act swiftly if we go for it. Some providers say they don't need to know yet some say it shouldn't be a known pregnancy before taking up the policy, we only found out yesterday via a home test kit. Doctors have been booked this morning for next week when it should be confirmed.

The only way to be certain is to read policy documents and then speak to the insurer direct if it appears cover is available.

Congratulations on the news of the upcoming arrival.
  • From experience, it's unlikely that you will be covered for general pregnancy as there is technically nothing that would stop you going (provided no flights are involved. I say technically as I am currently 7 months in to pregnancy number 3 and I honestly couldn't be bothered going anywhere right now

If there was a pregnancy-related condition that was unexpected and stopped you from travelling then this may be covered but you'd definitely need to check the small print and see what they will cover - and book asap before you 'officially' know.

The other option is to see if they will move the dates? Might be nice to get some time away before the baby is here. Congratulations by the way :)

Maybe change the dates if unable to attend.
