I must be going round the twist :)

  • When we did ours, a friend of the family acted as the certificate provider (we've known her 30+ years) and my partner and my daughter are my attorneys with my daughter's husband witnessing both their signatories so in total just 3 people needed.  All the signatures do not need to be done on the same day, the certificate provider can be done on one day and the attorneys/witness etc thereafter.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time

I recently did the Health and Finance LPAs for my mum with me as the main attorney and my sister-in-law as a replacement. As long as your circumstances aren't complicated then it's a relatively simple process of filling in the forms online, printing them out, signing them and sending the papers off. The "certificate provider" can be a family friend and they can also be a witness.

Just take some time to double and triple check everything as we had one of the LPAs sent back as we'd missed one signature which delayed the process by a few weeks.
