Help with Plusnet email in Thunderbird

I am having trouble accessing my Plusnet email in Thunderbird (and in Gmail too) and wonder if anyone can help, please? I contacted Plusnet yesterday and they gave me a link with settings etc. I removed my email Plusnet Account from Thunderbird (because it was not working) and, using all the instructions given by Plusnet, I tried to add it again. It will not accept the information given by Plusnet and I cannot access my Plusnet emails.
I have not been able to log in to Plusnet Webmail. A Plusnet email did arrive in Gmail but when I tried to forward it, it was stuck with three others in the outbox and they won't send. I'll be glad of any help, thank you. I would really like to reinstall Plusnet emails in Thunderbird if at all possible.

Reported elsewhere that Plusnet email was down last night, expected to be back this morning.

Thanks very much, spenderdave. I have been going round in circles using the settings I was given by Plusnet, removing and trying again to add my Plusnet email to Thunderbird.
Hopefully it will be sorted today. I'm just realizing how much I rely on my Plusnet email. I think the problem with Gmail app Plusnet emails being queued and not sending from there must also be to do with the Plusnet email being down.

Thanks very much Neil_Jones. I see now why they did not work. Perhaps I should not have removed Plusnet from Thunderbird but I'll wait until problem is fixed then try again to reinstate it using the Server settings.

Usually members having a problem are far quicker than the service status page to "finally" acknowledged that yes um, err there IS a problem.
In this case the number of pages and comments on threads about email not working showed that it was a substantial issue and not just some individual with an issue

Update Friday morning (early.) I've used the link a lot and it's really helpful. Thanks again Uxb1.
Although not back to normal yet, some emails are getting through now and the few queued in my out box seem to have 'sent.'
