Hi, I'm looking forward to buy an instant photo printer from Kodak. Can anyone guide me with which one to go for? Heard that there's one that's available in 4x6". Can anyone help me with it ? I'm new to this.

  • I have not used one of these. I have seen them though.
But just a thought. Is an online solution such as Snap Fish an option? It is all done online so computer or mobile needed to send them the pictures. Few days later they are in the post.

I have not used the mobile app option with these as I usually edit a pic before uploading and don't know what the privacy policy is on the mobile.

Some of the packs of paper for inkiness printing with Kodak look around £20-£25 quid for 50 3x4 sheets (excluding printer). £6 for slightly larger sized 50 6x4 from online service.

Depends how quickly you need them.

Why not a decent printer thats half the initial purchase price which allows paper upto A4 sizes?

Cannot see one of those being cheaper in the long run?

  • Printer costs are high especially if you want a decent quality phot printer that doesn't use ink every 10 minutes for "maintenance". I used to run a decent quality photo printer and it was very expensive. It was in regular use at the time. I tried a cheap ink jet and the ink costs went through the roof. It paid to go laser the cheap one was that bad.

I saved a lot going online and down grading to a decent laser. Some irony the Eco tank outperforms the laser now (on paper).

    (on paper? snigger)

Just bought an Eco-Tank printer and its going to take a long time and probably millions of prints to pay for itself...

The printer the OP mentioned is not exactly cheap to use, only had a quick look at prices for £15 for 20/25 prints which
    was smaller than they requested.

  • I recently came across this one called dock plus from kodak, read it in a blog and also heard from a colleague. Has anyone used it before ? Can anyone provide me a link from where i can buy it, or look at all the specifications ? I prefer to buy from the official online store, not amazon or any other e-commerce platform. So if someone can provide it to me, i would really appreciate it.
  • Official Kodak Dock webpage selling to the UK - says all products ship from Amazon. UK price is £144.99 for one including a cartridge/small pack of paper.

Most recent review claims they purchased one but instead received a box of spaghetti :o

No experience of the Kodak printer but I read it uses a 4 pass dye-sublimation print method. 3 colour passes and 1 lamination. This is the same printing method as our Canon Selphy uses. This gives very good quality 4"x6" photos. Being the same printing method, I'd think the Kodak printer would give similar good results.
