Freesat 4k - rejoining sky

I cancelled sky yesterday thinking I'd buy a freesat 4k box but I've now seen reviews that are pretty rubbish. Can anyone comment on the new 4k boxes? Also has anyone cancelled a sky cancellation? Thanks

Well people cancel Sky all the time for one reason or another, it tends to unlock retention deals.  Remember 31 day notice applies, and if its Sky Q you have to send the equipment back.

Also if you had Q and a wideband LNQ fitted, that will only work with Freesat 4k.  You couldn't drop back to "HD" with it, you'd have to have a new LNB fitted.

Your choice of future TV depends what service(s) you want and what channels you watch.   You can add iPlayer/Hub/All4 on via the likes of a Fire Stick if your TV isn't already smart.

Thanks, yes I gave notice a couple days ago and my contracts ends on the 13th Dec.

I was more interested in people’s experience of the freesat 4K box itself. Is it very glitchy and slow?

I bought mine in June 2020 even though my Sky contract renewal date was in November 2020. I have been using the Freesat box for a year. Firstly lets start with Recording programmes - If you had a Q box then you can record upto 4 programmes while watching a previous recording or streaming content. If you have any other Sky boxes then it is more restrictive (watch 1 channel while recording another.) Now to answer your question - How good is the Freesat 4K box? People like myself who bought the box whenever it first came onto the market has numerous and a variety of problems - but these have roughty 97-98% been resolved. Finally I would just add the question you should be asking "Will you ever go back to Sky/Virgin/BT?" the answer is no.

When you 'cancel' Sky, nothing happens for a month anyway. To un-cancel, simply contact them.
