PCN from Parking Charge Limited on private land, ignored since 08/2019, now have a letter of claim

I received a PCN from PCL in August 2019. Ignored it mistakenly thinking that you didn't have to respond but now have a LoC. The car belongs to my wife but I incurred the PCN.
I have sent an SAR and hold to PCL and BW Legal respectively on 18/10/21. PCL have not replied, BW Legal have emailed me back saying that it should be my wife who asks for the hold as it's her details on record.
The letter of claim from BW Legal is dated 20/09/21 and I emailed them on 18/10/21.
Is it now just a case of preparing my defence, and how can I make it so that I go to court instead of my wife who will not?

BW Legal have emailed me back saying that it should be my wife who asks for the hold as it's her details on record.Of course, unless she names you in a reply to BW Legal, transferring liability to you as driver, and gives your postal address (even if the same as hers, that's what she MUST supply, your name and address).
She has time, if you are better placed to handle this.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
