travel agent informed us today that airline had pulled the flights and asked for more money to move flights or offered full refund and book again which would be higher cost . This was booked as a package holiday can the airlines do this and charge extra money when it is not our fault?

was booked through hays travel and initial flights were with KLM

Ok. Well it wont be Hays Travel fault either, you are using a third party to put together a package with separate airline and accommodation providers

We accept no liability for any changes or cancellations made to your arrangements by the supplier under your contract with them.
