Undercharged?
A few months ago I purchased a used car from a dealership advertised at £22,498
I put £100 deposit down when I reserved and was told I had a balance of £1750 on the day I collected.. which I paid
finance company have paid £20,657 meaning in total we have paid £22,507
The dealership are now chasing me stating I owe them £150 and they undercharged me on collection. The only thing I think this could be is their “on the road price” however I paid my own tax on my own bank card on collection and sorted my own insurance so I am unsure what they’re on the road price would be for?
Where do I stand legally with this? I have paid the full amount of the cost of the car itself?

Simply write back to the Dealer to set out, factually, what you have paid and that you do not recognise the further sum claimed.dnd94 said:A few months ago I purchased a used car from a dealership advertised at £22,498

Don't go into anything you might be able to think of (VED / admin fee / OTR charges). Let the Dealer justify the sum to you.1 -
What did they say when you called them to ask what this extra charge was for?dnd94 said:A few months ago I purchased a used car from a dealership advertised at £22,498

He just said he undercharged me and that there was £150 outstanding

In theory you've* already paid them £9 more than the agreed sale price.

Just follow the advice in the 1st reply - get them to justify the alleged shortfall. (They can say you owe £150, but unless they can show how/prove it then it is merely words - they need to provide evidence). I assume you have a copy of the sales paperwork?

Call them back and ask specifically what the missed charge was for.dnd94 said:He just said he undercharged me and that there was £150 outstanding"We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -

When it comes to financial disagreements it is better to have things in writing.

Very kind of you. I would certainly advocate confirming what was said by email, but the reluctance these days to speak with people results in misunderstandings, evasive behaviour and people turning to internet message boards to ask for advice, when a simple phone call could clear things up.Jenni_D said:

The number of times I see people on here asking what does this mean, as if a bunch of strangers can decode the limited information, rather than picking up the phone and asking directly.
