TotalAV updates

Hi - have asked TotalAV how to do manual updates/check for updates - I have reinstalled the software windows 10 is up to date. I have version v5.15.69. Does anyone know if its possible to do manual updates on this software? I keep asking them if its possible and they haven't told me yet. I need to switch my pc computer off completely sometimes and just want to know whether its up to date when I switch it back on or be able to manually update. Bitdefender had this function - naively just assumed all AVs did?? With thanks.

All AV software I have come across updates virus definitions automatically and don't lose any when you turn off the computer.

Yes its a paid version. With Bitdefender I went to notifications to check if an update had failed due to there being no internet connection at the time update was attempted - just clicked on retry and it did it. I have to shutdown and unplug from internet sometimes. When you say they update automatically - do you mean the second you switch computer on or within an hour - the virus definitions update every hour according to the information. So your not up to date for the first hour back online???

They probably mean checked every hour.

Someone should invent push technology.

I suspect they probably do the sensible thing and check on startup then every hour(ish).

They probably check your payment is upto date as well.
