I've visited York plenty of times, but have never stayed, and we're finally staying for a few days in December. 

Looking for recommendations for things to do on an evening. I've looked at the theatres but haven't found anything for us, plus they're really expensive these days!
We're not big drinkers, so don't go to pubs much. 
I was hoping the Christmas market would be on during the evenings, but it looks like it will close at 6pm.
Does anyone have any ideas?

What sort of things do you enjoy?

It looks as though the Christmas market runs till 8 on Friday and Saturday evenings, and there are various concerts if you don't want to go to the theatre, if any of them appeal, and, depending on what dates you are there, carol concerts in the Minster and other churches. Even if you don't drink you could look for pubs which do live music or comedy nights, if you enjoy that

I was thinking live music sort of places, but didn't know where to start other than checking every pub website.
We're there mid-week unfortunately, so market shuts at 6pm

definitely look at a ghost walk
