Integrated fridge

I have an existing standard 600mm under counter kitchen cupboard that I want to house an integrated fridge in. I have been told by the people who supplied my kitchen (several years ago) that I cannot use the existing door, I need a door especially for integrated appliances. They no longer stock the kitchen doors that I originally bought.
I don't get it? I have an integrated freezer right next to it and the doors look exactly the same?
Please can someone tell me if this is true, I can't afford to replace all my kitchen doors so that they would match the new integrated door I apparently need!

Don't integrated fridges replace the 600mm cabinet? In which case the door will need to hinged differently to the existing door. Hopefully someone with more up-to-date knowledge will be along soon.

A general point - integrated under counter fridges are tiny and awkward and often have problems keeping down to temperature. Personally I'd replace the cupboard with a proper under counter fridge, not integrated.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • As per above - if you are going with the sliding door option then you will have an issue in how you remount the door once the carcass has been removed.

For fixed door on door you should be ok, these usually have a mounting bracket at the top.

You will need to survey what removing the carcass will do to other parts of the kitchen furniture, especially supporting the worktop if the adjacent unit is already an integrated with no carcass.

Do all integrated undercounter fridges stand on the floor? Some look decidedly too short without room for the kickboard suggesting they are to go into a carcass like most larder style integrated ones.

From a door perspective, they universally appear to be just the standard door attached to the front of the fridge's door and so unless the holes made for the original mounting are unfortunately in the wrong place reusing the door shouldnt be a problem.

All integrated fridges/freezers are a notable sacrifice on capacity to get the same door/continuous kickboard look unless you're willing to sell vital organs to afford the semi-pro type from Sub-Zero and pals.
