TalkTalk bill now itemises a service that they have never supplied. Can I refuse to pay that?

My original package (cheapest) was phone and broadband combined. However, I live in a blackspot and TalkTalk confirmed (after several visits) that they could not actually supply broadband to my home. As the package was "combined" no discount could be made and, in fact we were to be charged extra for a paper bill, because we would not accept email version!!! We lived without broadband for several years, until B4RN (Broadband for Rural Networks) came into our valley and we started to subscribe. Happy days!. Now I notice that TalkTalk are itemising the broadband service separately from the phone service on my bill. Can I refuse to pay for an itemised service I have never received in 10years?

Have you contacted them to query it? That is surely your first port of call.1

Did you leave TT at the end of contract . or are you still in contract .

TT do not provide any phone-only contracts.
If you have not changed anything with TT, then you will be on a rather expensive legacy package as indicated by separate charges for phone and broadband.
You should have moved to a landline only service from another provider once you had your B4RN service up and running.1 -
Or ditched the landline totally and just use VOIP via the FTTP from B4RNThe_Fat_Controller said:You should have moved to a landline only service from another provider once you had your B4RN service up and running.0 -
Could the OP keep their number?0

Depends on the VOIP provider but certainly mine you can port any landline number to them... you can also have it setup such that the CLI appears to be any other number you own even if not ported to them, so I can call from my computer (or home phone or mobile) and it appears as my mobile number so can make cheap/free calls when overseas without revealing my home number and clients etc just assume i'm calling from my mobileAlderbank said:Could the OP keep their number?0 -
Thanks for your feedback! This forum is quicker and less painful than hanging on a helpline number for hours!!
I am no longer in a specific contract, so will transfer my number to another provider and give TT the old heave-ho. They've had enough money out of me for not providing a service.0
