Cashier mistake at Paypoint, I lose...

Hopefully being in Scotland doesnt affect things too much!
I went to pay my council tax at a paypoint. Admittedly the guy at the till didnt seem too sure what he was doing.
He gave a receipt that looked different but assured me it was paid.
It had a paysafecard pin on it. Never heard of it!!
Turns out my council tax isnt paid and paysafecard want to deduct a £6 admin fee to return my £125 credit, when it wasnt even my fault.
Can you help?

😡😡😡

Without being registered you can buy a paysafecard voucher over the counter for up to £40.
However to pay £125 you must be registered and present your registration number which is entered into the till.
Since you gave your paysafecard registration number, you have must have heard of it and it was 'your fault'.

If you wish to withdraw the £125 you bought a voucher for then their T&Cs do say a fee of I think 8euros which is about £6. You will need to present your registration number again which you used to buy it.

Unless it was someone else's paysafecard registration number.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Hi, no sorry, presented my council tax letter with barcode on it.
He handed me back the receipt with the pin on it, saying it was paid.
Id honestly never heard of paysafecard until then.
I signed up after that purely for the aim of being able to get my money back.
I have no need for paysafecard credit and wont be using that shop again.
Paypoint are also offering to look into it for me too, which is good of them.
  • Thanks for the comments though. If its true you need to be registered to buy that amount of credit suggests someone had previously been in with their registered i.d. and was still on the machine?

You need to have a quiet word with the shopkeeper about their employee.
