Grant for boiler replacement

Apologies if this is in the wrong place.
I applied for a new boiler at a reduced price, due to a scheme that I qualified for being disabled. Finally came out after lockdown 1, and was quoted £600, £400 for the boiler, and £200 for additional pipe work to connect to the existing flue. The verbal quote never materialised into a written quote, despite me chasing them up. When they did finally reply, the quote had expired, and it would have to be surveyed again.......£1800!!! Boiler still at £400, new flue, as they couldn’t connect to the existing one, because they’ve got to cut into some plasterboard that was artexed that MAY have asbestos, £400 to do that, new roof kit for the new flue, and scaffold to go on the roof to fit the new roof kit (live in a bungalow, and no outside wall to site it on). And they still haven’t explained to me why the first survey was so wrong, and how they can now now justify the additional costs.
i see many adverts offering grants for boilers, all priced at the £400 mark. Is it worth contacting them, or how would I know if they are dodgy businesses, even if they are Gas Safe registered.

You can try any of the companies who do work under the grant scheme. Some are not taking on new jobs though. The current scheme is not a government one, it is ECO, Energy Companies Obligation.
Try energysaveuk.com or borthwickheating.co.uk2 -
I qualified as a home owner with a disability ( universal credit ) for eon warm home discount . In my situation , eon sent out a person to assess my flat , who did a technical drawing and gave me a quote of over £400 but less than £500 . He checked my universal credit journal and documents to prove I was a homeowner .He told me that the boiler would have to be moved to the other wall .
A few weeks later ,I received a letter confirming my eligibility for the schene .
A few weeks after that , I received phone call and paid £240 instantly .The engineer from a smaller heating co was great and installed new Worcester noiler in one day instead of three as advised .
It got installed the week before lockdown last spring. Not sure if this information is of any use to you now , but it may help others .Hope you get a satisfactory outcome ..1
