redundancy pay

Options
hello all!
my son has been made redundant after 18 months on furlough, the amount does not seem right to me as it is based on a much lower amount than he was getting on furlough! no-one answers calls or emails when he tries to contact company and the rep for redundancy has left company, what would be his best way of sorting this?
thanks in advance for any help

Redundancy is only an entitlement if you have worked for a company for 2 years.
And also only commences at 18 years of age.
How old is your son and how long has he worked there

He should get a week's pay for each FULL year of employment and 7 weeks notice, a week for each full year too.
    Also any accrued holidays.

Can you see some at citizens advice unless he want to put all the details on here

  • thanks for reply, when he was on furlough he was getting 1395 a month before tax, as this is 80% of normal pay i worked out full pay as 1744 a month which is 405 a week? don't know if doing this right? if that was what furlough was based on then surely redundancy should be paid at this rate? or am i getting this all wrong! they are paying him 230 a week redundancy, so confused by it all, he only got pay slips during first few months of furlough, no-one answers phone or email at old workplace, the rep who was supposed to help employees through process has left company and not able to contact them, one other employee tried to query their pay out and was told they were stupid for not being able to understand it! any help would be much appreciated! thanks
  • also no mention of any holiday pay although company did make him take some holiday but do not know how much holiday pay is left, sorry for long posts but just need clarification, also he has never had a contract given to him

Speak to Acas but have paperwork in front of you, he should have his original contract and any other paperwork.
He needs to do this, not you.
Nit sure that Acas would speak to you.
He should also know how much holiday he is entitled to annually
And also How many he has taken

He is also entitled to 7 weeks notice
To work or payment in lieu.
