O/S Daily Tuesday 9 November 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, but temperature has really dropped and air feels cold.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, saute mash/new potatoes, beans and mushrooms. Tonight will be LO roast meat braised in gravy with LO veg. Hairdresser is coming tonight so slightly late dinner.
Yesterday work was less busy but still had plenty to do as other members of staff are not doing jobs they should - which leaves other members of staff to pick up the pieces. Today I'm doing 1 job all day due to there not being enough staff, I've been asked to work this job all day today - we'll see how that goes. Good part is once today is done just tomorrow morning at the other office then I'm on time off.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
Quite mild out this morning with rain due later - again. Washing will go on when I get home from work.
Went to collect a towbar bike rack for DD yesterday, a bargain at £30, will get the lights and number plate and they are all set. Didn't enjoy the drive as it was dark by about 4pm and I don't like driving in the dark, it was raining too so doubly horrid.
Great day at work until a monstrous parent decided it was OK to verbally abuse both me and the depute, hoping for a quieter day today.
Hope you are all well or recovering, have a good day. Take care. XX12 -
Morning all
Drizzly rain here but at least that means no frost, it was so mild here last night we did not light the fire it was strange weather for November.
Off to work today and I have a meeting this morning with HR and my manager so should finally get some answers, im hoping for some good news but we will see.
Going to do an all day breakfast for dinner tonight so nice and easy and I shall do the lamb casserole for tomorrow with crusty bread.
DW to empty this morning and I will have a quick tidy of the lounge.
I was in bed and asleep by 9,30 last night and slept so well I think its knowing that I will have an answer today one way or the other !
Have good days all and stay safe xxx13 -
Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.]Sorry to hear you had abuse from a parent Camelot, I hope it doesn't happen often, though it shouldn't happen at all. It's fine at the moment, and almost light, I don't know if it'll stay fine though. Our Residents' Association is starting to meet again today, it's our first meeting since Febraury last year, so we'll see how many attend - two members have died in that time ,sadly, but we are an elderly group in the main. We used to meet in the evenings, using one of the rooms in the library, but now we have to meet in the mornings, it's better in a way, particularly in the winter, for those who don't want to go out for a meeting at 7pm.Nothing much else happening, apart from the quiz tonight.Hope everyone has a good day anyway, take care folks.12

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
I listed some fabric for free and ended up with some idiot having a strop as I refused to post it it to her. Talk about entitled.
Pump out day today if it doesn't rain.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I have been MIA for a couple of days as I've been down in the dumps with not a lot to say. Another milestone to pass at the w/e and life in general has been getting on top of me. Never having a decent night's sleep doesn't help either.
Anyway moan over. Being Tuesday I am meeting oldest buddy for our usual coffee morning and lunch so maybe she can cheer me up a bit.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. RUBY my fingers are crossed for a good outcome today. Take care one and all and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning folks.
Camelot - I'm angry for you! There's never any need for abuse.TA - ❤️ I wish you some peace.Ruby - my fingers are crossed for a great result for you.Scarlett - enjoy the quiz.Bella - your windows featured in my dream last night 🤣 hope it's a good omen.Yesterday was a total washout, heavy rain all day though windless. I eventually stripped my bed and did a white wash plus a darks one. The gardener texted to say she wasn't coming 😂 and I cancelled the cleaner (paid her anyway) so I had another quiet day. Just sitting wrapped in my electric throw and surfing was enough.During my GP appointment last week she offered me some counselling which I thought about for a wee while but have now accepted. It probably won't happen before Christmas however I already feel a bit better for having made the decision. The mind is a funny thing!
As for today, it's still raining though not as heavily as yesterday, so far. I may venture into the garden to fill up the bird feeders, they've been empty for two days now. I've put on the upstairs radiator for a wee while to take the edge of chill off.My thoughts to our poorlies. Happy Tuesday to everyone.13 -
Morning all not cold but looks like rain may be on the way dog has been walked and now just having a cuppa no real plans will be sorting out the rooms as it appears the window people are definatly coming on Thursday hurrah maybe i will get one job finished the stained glass window is still going to be next year but a plain one will go in for now as i am fed up with looking at 2 pieces of hardboard. We have decided not to do the Rhine cruise for New Year as numbers of covid infections are rising quickly in Germany and i just won't take a chance
TA I think there are a few of us feeling a bit down right now and not getting a full nights sleep doesn't help i hope you have a nice day today
Ruby Good Luck xx
Hester I dont know why people ask for things then mess you about good luck with the pump out
Camelot I hope the parent has been banned from school grounds
Nmic sorry to hear work isn't great for you x
Right better shake a leg as its bed change day today . Have a good day whatever you are up to stay safe xx

Morning all! Pea and ham soup made , enough for a few lunches for me, OH not that fond of normal soup...4 loads of washing, 3 in the tumble drier, I should feel guilty about the electric but being as it was raining, I wouldn't have been able to dry that much in the house. For those thinking I should have planned better, well, I've been away for weeks on end and I had a lot to catch up with...I'm not sure what my plan is today, same for supper again with thyme and rosemary dumplings [I did try parsley ones before but after the thyme and rosemary ones, they were really insipid ] which may leave enough for a portion for the freezer. The little itty bits of ham went in the soup, the bigger chunks went in a bag for a pie, I have some cooked chicken in the freezer and saved some of the stock, so that's another meal either end of this week or beginning of next sorted. We're going to the cinema tonight to see Dune, have heard good reports so far, and the cinema is virtually empty, maybe 15 people in total including us, and it's a big capacity room. We're having a lift because I really don't want to drive my car until it's fixed...Masks at the ready!!Camelot, how annoying...I used to work in a shop and always used to get annoyed I could rarely give some back to those like that [ except for once, which was a real joy] . Ruby, hope the news is positive..TA, sorry you're down in the dumps, hope meeting your friend gives you positive motion...Gers, I had some reluctantly to start with after my mother died. It really helped..I'm one of those , no, I don't need any help thank you very much, but it became clear, I very much did, so I had to swallow my stupidity and have some...Nanny, happy jigsawing... Have a good day if you can, if you can't, blame me, that's fineNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi12

Morning everyone
I don't start work till later today so I didn't need to get up so early. I had planned to go for coffee with mam and dad but it's raining at the minute so I'll phone in a bit to see what they're doing. If not I'll pop down to the shop for some rolls and call at their house for a cuppa on my way back.
Camelot - you have my sympathies - most parents are lovely but sometimes you get an awful one!
Gers - I hope the counselling, when you get it, helps
TA - hope your day out with your friend helps
Bellabella - eldest DD who lives in Germany said yesterday they're having stricter rules again - they seem to be taking Covid more seriously than us just now
Redruby - hope you get things sorted at work - and the outcome is what you want
Better move myself - hope everyone has a good day

Morning, very dull today. Sorry some of you are having difficulties and hope you improve. I didn't get chance to post yesterday,I was out looking for birthday presents for DGS, only got a few bits so may venture out again. We had a quick tea last night, mince cooked in the instant pot with crispy potatoes.I had an awful night's sleep- woke at 3 and couldn't get back to sleep so I'm already feeling like a limp rag.Hugs and spoons xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
