C1 Seat Height Adjustment
Hi this isn't really money related but i've just bought a C1 advertised as having an adjustable seat height. It's a 2012 model. Does anyone know how to adjust the height? I can't see it anywhere, if its not got that would i be within my rights to ask the dealer to fit one given it was advertised as having that feature?

Double check the advertising (check there isn’t a “on certain models” disclaimer) but my understanding is you could indeed reject and ask for a refund as it’s be mis-sold.INAMESS said:Hi this isn't really money related but i've just bought a C1 advertised as having an adjustable seat height. Easiest way to resolve this is to call the seller, say it was clearly advertised as having seat height adjustment so… where is it? If they tell you, great. If they can’t tell you, you’ve got them banged to rights.0 -
Good idea thanks, think i'll do that tomorrow0

How did you purchase the car?INAMESS said:Hi this isn't really money related but i've just bought a C1 advertised as having an adjustable seat height. It's a 2012 model. How far is the Dealer from where you live?
If you visited the Dealer and saw the car prior to purchase, then this is something you probably could have been expected to check as part of the assessment of the vehicle - particularly as this is a critical feature for you.
If the purchase was completely remote then it may be possible to reject the vehicle under the 14-days allowed by the CCR:

You probably don't have any rights to ask for one to be fitted. It may be technically possible to retrofit but I suspect that would mean an entire new seat assembly and not likely to be at a cost-point that anyone would consider reasonable. (You might be able to do yourself using a seat recovered from a scrap-yard, but it isn't a job I'd want to do, plus the seat fabrics will be different etc.)
The advert very likely has a disclaimer that covers this type of discrepancy in the description and, in any event, an advert is nothing more than an "invitation to treat". Did you specifically ask about the seat height adjustment prior to agreeing to purchase?
I very much doubt that the absence of a feature such as seat height adjustment would be sufficient to warrant mis-selling or grounds for rejecting of the car, though you may interpret this guidance differently to me:

If the car does not have seat height adjustment, does it have steering wheel height adjustment which might be a suitable compromise?
To absolutely confirm that the car does not have seat height adjustment, you could call into a local Citroen dealer and ask - they will probably just come out and either show you how the seat height adjustment works or confirm there is none fitted.
After all that, you have nothing to lose by phoning the dealer for clarification, or popping back in to ask. The dealer may be able to demonstrate the seat height adjustment, or there is an outside chance of a goodwill payment (I really would not hold my breath), or the Dealer may accept the car back (again, not a breath-holding moment).
You also need to be careful what you ask for. With the current constrained market place for used cars, if this is a good car in all respects other than the seat height adjustment, even if the car was refunded, woudl you be able to find another replacement as good at the same price?

You've already got an answer to this on your post in 'Honest John'
Seat height adjustments only became available on C1 from 2014 onwards.
So you're looking for something that isn't there and the dealer was wrong to say it was.
