Why? The current minimum wage for someone 23 or over is £9.81 an hour.muppet1901 said:
Any suggestions out there? Please don't just tell me to write it down to experience.
You have no doubt spent more than 30 minutes faffing trying to get a refund, which in terms of minimum wage is more than the refund would be for.
I'm all for chasing refunds, but in this case I would absolutely just let it go!
(argh, now I'm singing the Frozen song...)Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)2 -
You are absolutely right, of course. But it grieves me when big organisations - particularly any Government departments - keep money they have no right to, by making it impossible for the normal person to challenge.pinkshoes said:

Could this be some sort of terms and conditions issue? The system seems to be, correct me if I'm wrong, that the toll is paid for the car, not the individual. In effect, the money is paid to allow Car X to cross the bridge or pass through either of the tunnels rather than to allow @muppet1901 the person to do the same.
The likelihood is, then, that Car X was sold to Joe Soap from the opposite side of the Thames. Joe Soap crossed to go home after buying it and hasn't re-crossed, possibly because he doesn't like going Saarf, or Nowf depending, of the river.
The point, then, is that Car X was authorised to perform two crossings at the point it went over by virtue of the pre-payment. That authorisation was not personal to either @muppet1901 or to Joe Soap, it belonged to the car. As Joe Soap then didn't come back, one crossing authorisation with a value of £2.50 was existent for Car X at the point the refund was requested. £2.50 was refunded as a result. What @muppet1901 should have done, however, was to ask for a refund before the car was sold. He didn't, so this has happened.
As others have said, it's not worth trying to stick it to the man over £2.50; you'll lose far too much sleep.0 -
I don't think MCOL would deal with a claim for an amount so small..............or were you being tongue in cheek?user1977 said:Letter before action and then a small claim for £2.50...If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Well, the latter really. The OP wants to know how to pursue it on a point of principle. Yes, it would probably be thrown out, but there isn't much other option (other than seeing sense!).lincroft1710 said:

The reason I asked was that as the OP thanked you, they may have taken your post at face valueuser1977 said:

Who knows, a LBA might make the creditor stump up the £2.50 rather than face further admin hassle!lincroft1710 said:
