Did the OP order the wrong size, was the incorrect size sent, or did the ordered size arrive and it did not fit?

I ordered the correct size and was sent the incorrect size, so yes, by rights I shouldn't even have had to pay return postage, but I didn't want to be overly awkward about it so I thought I'd let that slide.
The postage costs I'm owed are £6, which isn't exactly a fortune, but it's still 25% of the value of the item itself and it's still my money.

As long as you returned it within 14 days if receipt you are entitled to both a refund if the purchase price and any postage cost in sending it to you.

Pretty sure if you pay extra for delivery (next day)etc then you can only get std deliver charges back.

As to chargeback. No. As it is based on card regulations & not you legal rights.

Speaking of chargebacks, I've since read the reveiws for this company and unfortunately it seems this isn't the first time this has happened because someone has left them a negative review and in it they mention that they got their refund via a chargeback.

Couldn't I just return their refund and then get a chargeback on the original transaction?

Try a chargeback anyway ... the worst that will happen is that the card provider say no. :)

That sounds bonkers to me. The retailer will dispute the chargeback with evidence that they have refunded.

You can request a partial chargeback. Ask for the £6 which you are owed.

I didn't know a partial chargeback was possible. Thanks, I'll give it a go if they still haven't responded by next week.

Quick update in case anyone finds this thread useful; unsurprisngly the retailer continued to ignore me so I raised a chargeback request with my credit card company and made it clear that I only wanted to reclaim the £6.
I've since had a letter from them saying that they're investigating, but I've also now noticed a £6 credit to my account so I'm not sure if that means the matter is settled or if they just do that anyway whilst looking into it, but could later debit it again.

In my experience, the disputed amount always returns to sit on the account.  I had a chargeback for an item that was only £12 and Amex just wrote the amount off but it sat on my account for about a week before they wrote it off.
  • Well it's been another 2 months and the money still hasn't been re-debited. Do you think it's safe to say the matter is settled? Or is there a longer cut-off period I need to keep checking for?
