We went for the Pro Cook Tri Ply range.

The price is a bit punchy, but they are beautiful pans and I like the fact that the handles are welded and not riveted. Go to a shop if you have one local to you, they seem to be expanding, and check them out. They are heavy though if you are older / have weak wrists.

We got mainly uncoated because we like to 'cook', but just a few coated frying pans for pancakes, fried eggs etc.

Pro Cook put up a 20% off weekend, every so often, so keep an eye out and then the cost is a little less eye watering.

For cutlery we got Robert Welch's Stanton Bright Range from Harts of Stur

We bought a 24 piece box set that contained 6 free steak knifes and then have been adding to it ever since (more main knifes and forks) as these get congested in the dish washer.

I bought a cheap set of stainless steel pans over 20 years ago with the idea that I would use them until they died and then decide if I wanted something more expensive - and they are still just fine.  I have been through a few frying pans, settling on 2nd hand cast iron.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,

Robert Welch for cutlery. Le creuset or netherton foundry for pans. Don’t buy Teflon coated or plastic handled. Miele for hoover.

Henry Hoover! There's a reason every hotel in the world uses them.

But not if you have or plan to have pets. The long cord is absolutely amazing – I could do the whole house without changing where it was plugged in but it just couldn’t cope with cat hair.
I replaced with a Vac pet and donated poor Henry.

Costco does decent deals, got shark hoover, circulon pans, berghoff pots and pans, viners cutlery all at a decent prices, i second what others say, for pots and pans buy the best you can afford, as they will last a lifetime and the cheap stuff will end up in the bin.

For plates, bowls, cups i bought from ikea, for around £1-£2 a piece, all good quality and last well.

Would have been cheaper to get the pet head for the Henry.

I had a vac pet, was glad to be rid of it for a Henry tbh.

For glass and crockery I really like M&S 'Maxim' as it is their constant range - there is nothing worse than needing to replace something and find it isn't stocked any more.

We bought M&S Andante range for that reason, and then they discontinued it.  However as it's just plain and white I've found IKEAs range is a good replacement.  I'll never buy patterned plates again though, we just get everything in white so you can always find some sort of replacement or extra bits to match.

I also have stainless steel pans that just go in the dishwasher - they've always been fine - my favourite ones are the "pot" type with a small handle on each side from IKEA - you can chuck them in the oven or dishwasher easily, and hold them well if they're heavy.

IKEA, Asda and WIlko are my usual go to for cheaper household stuff, and John Lewis for nicer bits. TK Maxx also sometimes has a few nice bits if you're lucky (I got a couple of JosephJoseph bits there for half what John Lewis sells it for).  Keep an eye out when shopping though - my cast iron casserole dish was in the yellow sticker section of Morrisons for a tenner and is fantastic - that's my best buy.  A real Le Creuset would be about fifteen times that.

On hoovers - we had a pet dyson that was the biggest rip-off imaginable at £300.  It just clogs with dog hair every few minutes (and I'm talking a greyhound, not a husky!)  I replaced it with a cheap Henry which is brilliant and seemingly indestructible.

I do love henry! But since having a shark hoover I've not looked back.
It was about £180 in costco so saved some £, but definitely worth it

My absolute favourite cooking pot is a huge stainless steel number from Ikea with handles either side.  It has two steel steamer baskets that fit onto it as well.

Bought it 10 years ago and I don't know what I'd do without it!  Does all the Sunday dinner veg, huge curries, soups etc.    What a workhorse it's been.

We bought the last one on display, first time I'd ever noticed it, and i've never seen it again.
