Have a good holiday"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

Sh thank you both. I’m hoping to come home refreshed with a new plan and fresh outlook!
so what I need to do today before friends who are looking after house get here:
clean bathroom
clean en-suite
mop floor
wipe surfaces
shower
clean sheet bed
go to Sainsburys
message cat sitter
pack
most of which needs to be done by 1745…… eeeeek1 -
Managed it just about. Just got to hotel.
absolutely knackered. Really hope the house is as tidy when I get home as when I left!2 -
Although being on holiday is going to be expensive. I’ve tried to mitigate as much cost as possible. For example:
I couldn’t find my nail polish and had run out of mascara, I don’t buy expensive makes at all but still unnecessary costs, but I found a new mascara I’d bought when they were cheap and I found my nail varnish after 30 seconds of looking!I managed to find small sun creams which fit in my bag, rather than buying some on-site where they’d be 4 x more expensive. I also thought I was going to have to buy a new handbag as I don’t have one apart from a small one, but I found a beach type one I got for my birthday years ago. It was a bit grubby but I washed it and it’s good as new. I was going to buy a new notepad for all of my planning 😄 but I managed to find one I’d been bought but never used. Oh and my friend lent me a book so I have that and lots of free ones on my kindle to read.I think that’s all, but I was really happy.Although….. I have bought some perfume. And it is super expensive at £72!! But it will last me 3 years so it’s about £2 a month. Which I can handle, and I very very rarely find a perfume I like and when I do it lasts me so long it’s always discontinued by the time I go to buy any more!
In other news I don’t have a tax bill to pay!!!! I have already overpaid and they owe me a small amount. I’m going to use that as my holiday spends. My next bill is Jan and then again in July. They’re both £900. So I’m going to have to factor in £150 a month for tax. But that’s fine I just need to put it in a different account. I have opened a Monzo account so I can have different pots. And I will make that one of them.Whilst I’m away I will be coming up with a new budget, new job is very as hoc and if and when, so very hard to budget, would really like to not PT and get rid of small business but won’t as nothing is permanent and all very seasonal. So going back to pots, I have:
Summer holidays
Christmas and birthdays
Clothes
Tax
Mays Dancing
Spends
Food shopping
Everything else is on a direct debit. Like kids swimming, car insurance etc.
I’d like to have a mortgage over payment one. I so wish that my ad hoc job was more permanent. I’m a host hosting corporate events, I’m first port of call etc, and I really really enjoy it, I’m good at preempting problems and I’m super smiley. Going to have a look at the company website and see if they are recruiting for similar, but doubtful as that’s why they’ve bought an agency in, as I am agency based at the moment.Sorry enough rambling, speak soon2 -
Aww have a fab holiday, glad the pressure is off with the tax !Sealed pot challenge 822

Hope you can make the job permanent, sounds great for you.
Well done on not buying all that stuff! Great news about tax as well"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1 -
Thanks @jwil and @dawnybabes. Currently sat drinking coffee, relaxing but planning! I really am going to sort my life out whilst here. The things I want to organise and factor into my life:So saving money is a massive one.
Getting the children more organised to do more for themselves, but……
me getting more organised so I can help them with school work more.
Start finding time to factor in painting projects in the house.
Cleaning schedule like Flylady or similar
Food shopping schedule and meal plan.
Is there anything else that you do that helps you with a weekly plan? Open to ideas.
Basically I want to write a Weekly plan to make life easier, less stressful, and so that I’m not spending unnecessary money because I'm unorganised, like letting chicken go off in the fridge or having to get something from Amazon prime because I’ve left it until the last minute. Or getting petrol from expensive places or having to just nip to the coop. Or going out for dinner / lunch as no easy meals in.
This will be a bit of a learning curve as I spend a lot of time trying to do what is cheapest, i.E. going to Lidl and not buying easy meals, but consequently running out of time to cook from scratch and then either getting takeaway or going to coop and spending a fortune.I think I’m going to write a spider diagram, as ideas keep flitting in and out of my head! Will leave it there for now, switching over to my trusty notebook and pencil!0 -

First things first, slow cooker recipes. Found a great post re slow cookers:
https://www.frugalfamily.co.uk/is-a-slow-cooker-really-cheaper-than-your-oven/
so I want to use mine more. Desperately trying not to use the oven!1 -
Slow cookers use a smaller amount of power but over a long time. When you add it up it probably isn't much less than using the oven for half an hour 🤔
That said I do love our slow cooker.1
