We are thinking of laying lino over floor tiles in our kitchen. The lino itself is already quite thick with it being designed for heavy traffic but will I need to lay anything on the tiles prior to laying the lino to ensure the shape of the tile does not show through which cant be too thick?
Any advice on this project appreciated

If you lay it directly on the tiles you'll see the tiles pattern (relief) through very soon. Either lay plywood underneath or (better) level the floor first (possibly after getting rid of the tiles)
  • Have used vinyl sheet flooring over ceramic floor tiles. Just filled the grout lines to be level with the tiles. Used 2 part epoxy filler (car body filler).

The tiled floor was 100% level, no tile edge high spots which will grin through and locally wear the covering out quicker   <3 after 6 years It still looked Ok but had the floor completely renewed for underfloor heating upgrade  :#
