eBay and Inpost. Your experience?

There is currently an offer on eBay, valid until the 8th of November: "post your items for £1 with Inpost lockers". It sounds good, but  my experience with Inpost not so good.

I bought something on eBay this week which was apparently sent by Inpost. It was marked as delivered some time yesterday. When I got home there was no sign of parcel anywhere. There was no card left for me either and no indication as to where the parcel might be. What is worse, the item was delivered according to eBay "purchase history" page, but when I tried looking up on Inpost page the item appeared to be in their local depot. In the morning, I met my neigthbour, and discovered that the courier apparently left my parcel in her recycling box.

As a seller, I don't feel comfortable with Inpost. How was your experience?

My first experience with inpost was not good. Parcel didn't arrive, buyer opened a case & the tracking seemed to indicate that the parcel had never been collected by courier from locker. I refunded buyer & made a claim & It took a good 3 weeks in all for them to concede that they had no idea where the parcel was. I swore I'd never use them again.

However when they turned out to be the cheapest by far for a parcel I'd vastly underestimated the p&p on, I decided to give them one more chance....Ha, have just looked on ebay tracking for that item & it appears that I delivered it to locker on morning of 29th Oct, but no further info given, so I'm assuming buyer will soon contact me to say they haven't received item.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • So far so good.... It is run by Hermes so I guess not really any different from using 'normal' Hermes. At the moment their prices are worth using. When it was 16p/20p different I stayed with the print in store option
  • I've used them successfully, however, in the summer the small locker that opened already contained a parcel. I closed it and opened a medium sized locker.
When home I rang to report this. Got straight through to someone who thanked me for telling them and said she would report it. She said goodbye and I asked her if she wanted to know the location of the locker as this might be helpful for her report!?!

I use Inpost all the time to send goods and have rarely had any issue. The items are picked up daily by Hermes and from then on it's Hermes all the way to the destination. You can put the tracking number into Hermes' site to get the photo proof of delivery.

I have sometimes found there's already an item in the locker when I drop off, I just add my item to the locker and there's been no issue. Also have experienced "no lockers available" when dropping off, but this is rare and I just tried again the next day.
