"Onto" EV car subscription
I've been toying with the idea of EVs for a few years but never fancied making the jump.
Has anyone got any experience of Onto? An ID3 for £559 per month all inclusive sounds very expensive... I think. But I like the idea you could have it for just a month or two.

No real issues reported on the large Facebook EV group I’m a member of.
Some people were unhappy when they withdrew the BMW i3 after 2 years ish they were taking the cars back (which is the maximum you can have the same car) but a new i3 was not an option.
Good option to trial EV life and/or fill the gap until a new EV can be delivered.0 -

If you go for an id3 it will give you the opportunity to see if in this day and age it is acceptable for a manufacturer not to fit wipers suitable for right hand drive cars.0

There's a very big thread on SpeakEV that will give you all the information you need. Generally a good way to try an EV for a month before making the jump, but long term it is a very expensive way to run an EV.
Some things to bare in mind:- I believe there is a £50 drop off and pick up fee, so need to factor that into the cost,
- You do not get a physical key. You have to do it through an ONTO app,
- The insurance excess is £1,000,
- There is a dashcam fitted that you cannot control,
- You ma get a used car, not always new, so think of it like a hire car rather than a lease.

A potential alternative if you are near MK and feel a week would be long enough.1 -
They do issue Keys now, well one key anyway.0

Sounds like a great way to try one ahead of committing to one, but for more than a month I assume a regular lease is going to be a lot cheaper.1

A very flawed car, which is why I went for the (cheaper) Leaf.0 -
Doesn't seem worth it just to try out an EV. What are you going to learn in a few days or months that isn't already known?0

1. The most important bit, how/where it will be charged, should be known to the OP already.
2. Real life range is easily established, the car has been out long enough now that there's plenty of owner info.
3. A quick test drive will tell you if you like the car itself (I didn't, the lane assist was awful).
There should be more than enough info to just jump straight into full blown lease/PCP without a month or two of an expensive deal.1
