What are peoples experience with them? Are they a solid bank to save with?

They appear at the moment to be the best option for what I'm looking for, which is to have both a fixed and easy access account with the same bank at the best available rates, actually this is Investec I think but they only allow one account, not both, so that's not an option.

I understand there are better options out there if I use different banks for each one or spread it across multiple accounts or invested or whatever but I'm cautious and also want to keep it simple with all my savings in just those two accounts at the same bank. I can't be doing with anything more complicated really or multiple accounts across different banks and log ins. I'd have my savings and current all with one high street bank if I could but even I don't want to have rates that low.

Anyway yeh, Charter?

I've had no problems with them - they are currently looking after £50k of mine.  I would put them alongside Paragon, Aldermore and Oak North as being completely fine.

  • Have had accounts in the past. My only gripe with them is that when an account reaches maturity they do not offer the rates they offer new customers. I was offered a much lower rate to transfer my money into than a new customer could have got for the same term
  • I've used them several times and never had any issues.
  • Have several accounts with them.  Absolutely fine.
  • I'm wondering whether or not to fix in one of their 1 year or 18 month bonds or to go with a 90-120 day notice account envisaging possible interest rate rises early in the new year!

  • We've also had an excellent experience with Charter (fixed notice and fixed bond accounts). On the few occasions we've had to contact them, their customer support via messaging has been very good too (albeit they respond with a 2 day delay).

  • Forgive my ignorance but what is HL?
