Do wickes own there carpark?

I received a parking ticket through the post for pulling into a wickes car park at midnight (they was closed) to put a sugar in my McDonald’s coffee and finish a phone call I was on. I obviously didn’t see any signage but I’ve contacted the land owner (wickes, or so thought) and after 10 emails with customer services who initially said they would speak to G24 the private parking company to get it squashed as I didn’t park, and the store was shut have just came back to say that the store is rented and that they’re not the land owners? Even if it is rented which I don’t believe, while they’re running the land they can’t cancel a ticket in there car park? Help please !

I believe them , Wickes tend to rent stores on retail parks with multiple retailer's
They may not have contracted with g24 , it's usually the retail park management , so that is where your complaints should be going , check who the managing agent is , complain , or the actual landowner and complain
Tenants rarely have any power3 -
I would very much doubt that it is not rented. Why did you trespass on private land? Thes companies make their millions from chasing people who do this. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.4

As above Wickes are unlikely to be the landowners but the fact that the stores were closed goes against you not in your favour why should they cancel it?If you stopped put sugar in your coffee and made a phone call you parked why would you think otherwise? There are other points to consider like signage, illumination and grace periods etc exactly how long do you think you "didn't park" on site?4

Just ignore G24 like on all the other G24 threads you will have read.
Next time, use the kerbside, as is allowed for short stops. No idea why at midnight you didn't just pull over on street or down a side road where you couldn't get a PCN at all for taking a call.
Most permit bays were probably unrestricted at that time if night and even if not you can stop on a double yellow as long as you don't obstruct a lowered kerb or stop where there is a loading ban.
Just posting that as advice for next time. I would never drive deliberately into a shop car park at midnight to take a call as you are trespassing and instead, drivers can and should stop on street.
I don't know why driving instructors don't explain properly what can legally be done in terms of stopping for certain brief activity on yellow lines, to stop drivers thinking they mean no stopping, which they don't.
Anyway come back if you get a small claim and don't tell us about the tedious, laughable debt letters (see NEWBIES thread 4th post).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You were indeed parked! Why not put the sugar in your drink while you are already at McD's - even if obtained through the drive-thru, park up then - and if you were already on a call why park up elsewhere to finish it?Jeez, folks. Common sense comes into play here.Redstone1 said:for pulling into a wickes car park at midnight (they was closed) to put a sugar in my McDonald’s coffee and finish a phone call I was on.I didn’t park,Help please !
