Can you change £50 old notes in Barclays branches?

I know £10 and £20 old notes can be changed, not sure about £50 ones.

No reason why not - you should be able to swap (or deposit) them at any bank until at least September next year : https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/banknotes/exchanging-old-banknotes

(Actually, you've probably got a lot longer than that - most banks will exchange/accept old notes long after they've officially gone out of circulation, and have stopped being accepted in shops).

if you put them into your account they will accept them but if you are not a customer they may not do so.  i asked natwest to change two £10 notes to £1 coins the other day and the cashier said she can only do this if i am a natwest customer.  so the money wasn't even out of date!

i was paying my natwest credit card with cash so i am already a natwest credit card customer but she wanted to know if i am a current account customer before she would agree to change the £20 for me into coins.  she wrote my account number down on her writing pad and said she wanted to do this in case queries are raised later!

i have changed notes to coins before at the branch and they were fine so i was a bit surprised.  i googled if you had to be a customer to change notes into smaller denominations and it states that if it is not your own bank they may charge you a fee to do so.
