Ripped of by Carpet Right

I paid almost £1800 to have carpet fitted in the bedroom, living room and hallway. underlay was also added to the cost at £300. the estimator came and took measurements noting that 6 doors need to be shaved down for the carpet to fit.
I also needed 6 threshold bars. All of this was discussed with the sales assistant and I was given a final price.
The fitters came yesterday. I was told there were no threshold bars in the price (extra £40)
I did not need the underlay as I had it already. They refused to refund the £300 saying their invoice has discount. Mine does not.
The doors were taken off and I was told that would be an extra £150 to shave them.
On top of that the carpet in my living room is over a meter too short.
I was offered a paltry £7 refund. All of my doors are not on their hinges and are just standing loosely against the wall.
I am VERY unhappy with this service.
What are my rights please? Thank you

In terms of the doors you'll need to get someone to take a bit of the bottom of the doors & rehang them, not a huge job.0

If the invoice didn't include the bars I think you'd be in a difficult situation to show they said they was included, same goes for amending the doors.danniinkent said:I paid almost £1800 to have carpet fitted in the bedroom, living room and hallway. underlay was also added to the cost at £300. the estimator came and took measurements noting that 6 doors need to be shaved down for the carpet to fit.

Underlay is tricky as I assume they didn't lift the carpet to check it's condition and you agreed to buy new underlay?
Regarding the carpet being too short, which is your strongest argument, if there wasn't enough carpet has the room been fitted? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

Surely the time to query this was when it was added to the cost? Why allow it to be added if you didn't need it??

What exactly did you pay for, i.e. what is stated on the order/invoice?
Does it include the underlay? If so, why did you agree to it and pay it if you didn't need it?
Does it include the adaptations to the doors?
Does it include the threshold strips?
Is the carpet fitted, despite being too short?!0 -
If the old carpet was worn to the point of needing replacement or had been down long enough that you wanted a change, then the old underlay was probably worn and in need of renewal.danniinkent said:

New carpet with new underlay is always going to be the most comfortable and most durable. Likely a false economy to fit new carpet on top of old underlay.
I've recently ordered a carpet from the same chain and it is very clear in that absolutely everything included is itemised as specific line items. In fact, there is a note that specifically reads "Re-use doorbars" so could not possibly be clearer. I would expect that your paperwork will be similarly clear whether these are in or out of the price paid. If they are not in then the £40 extra is probably reasonable.danniinkent said:danniinkent said:

Was strimming the door included in the price? If not, the £150 to get the job done seems reasonable.
Your overall price for bedroom, living room and hallway seems keen at £2.1k (£1800 + £300). Our price for living room only has come to £1.3k.1
