O/S Daily Friday 5 November 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, but temperature has really dropped and air feels cool.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was dumplings with seasoned italian chicken - lovely it was but DH moaned - despite enjoying it and saying it was nice - moaned about not enough! I ignored we all had a good bowl full.
Yesterday work was busy at the start - but then did settled although was steady through the morning - afternoon settled down.
Today I have all the normal "to do" chores and want to keep on top of those, so will potter along and get done as best I can.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Come and cook for me nmlc, I wouldn't moan, you seem to have lovely dinners.
Not as cold this morning but I think it has rained overnight, that puts an end to putting washing out again but it was good while it lasted! I actually don't have enough for a load until I get in from work, swimming means a lot of towels in a week.
The chap is coming later to adjust the blinds in the living room so I need to be home pretty sharp, I may be leaving at the bell with the children! I always say that on a Friday but it very rarely happens, usually a couple of waifs and strays.
Thinking of the poorlies, hope there's an improvement soon. Special hugs to you dumpling.
Have a happy Friday, take care. XX13 -
Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC. Take no notice of Dh, NMLC, I agree with Camelot, your meals sound very nice.Yesterday I was busy in the house, still deep cleaning. I 'm embarrassed to see how much better the windows and mirror doors in the wardrobes look! Every time I clean thiose doors I say right, I'll do them every few weeks, of course the weeks slip away and I don't.I'm taking some curtains to the cleaners today, and there is shopping needed if I could remember what it is. There's also a bag for the chazzer. It was cold here yesterday, a real foretaste of winter, I think I'll get a pair of gloves out, for when I go out.Ruby I'm pleased to hear that Nels has improved a bit, hope it continues.Hope you are ok after your visit to the vet's TA, that Sparkle certainly keeps you on your toes.Friday already, I don't know where the days go, hope everyone has a good day anyway, thoughts to our poorly people.Take care folks.14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. This must be the coldest day so far. My phone said it was 2 deg outside and it was 14 deg in the kitchen when I came down. The heating went on quick smart! I'm having it on far too much and we are not yet into winter.
I had no problem getting Sparkle in the carrier yesterday and we were ready and waiting when DD pulled up. The vet got a bit of a growl at one point but that was all. More tablets to try and £60 bill!! Aaargh and back in another fortnight. I may have to start crowdfunding soon, this cat will have me in the poor house before long!
After that the day didn't go to plan! Sparkle was taken home and then DD and I set off again to do some Christmas shopping. I keep buying stocking fillers but never get any main presents! By the time I got home I was beyond thinking about making a head start on the Friday Tidy so today I have the whole shebang to do. I seem to get less and less organised these days.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning all
Cold but dry here, it was so cold yesterday with a really sharp wind hopefully it will have dropped a bit today.
Bit of a horrid day at work yesterday, I was told I didnt get the jobthe manager of that department said I was two points behind the other applicant and the only difference was that she had more horti experience which is true, the manager asked what was nexr for me and I had a few tears and told him I was possibly leaving, he was so kind and really concerned and spent ages with me he was so kind. I then went back to work and the big manager came to see me and said we would have a meeting next week with him and HR to see if there is anything else they can do, so more waiting and more anxiety for me
I am just fed up of feeling anxious about it all, and I could potentially be out of work in three weeks.
Off to work today but annoying manager is off so it should be a bit better, I think we may treat ourselves to a takeaway tonight and there is wine in the fridge already !
DW to empty this morning and will see if there is enough washing to do a load.
Hope you all have good days and stay safe xxx13 -
Ruby, I'm so sorry you didn't get the job, it doesn't seem right that you are being pushed out through no fault of your own.
TA, I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet!. I still have to wrap Esben's presents for tomorrow, I was going to ask Steve to do it but he's being pathetic with the man-flu so we'll have to see.
I made the squash and chickpea stew, the aubergine parm lasagne, a big panful of scouse and cooked a piece of gammon yesterday. The scouse was fulfilling a promise to Chris, he'd asked me for the recipe but it's very difficult saying to someone chuck in carrots and swede until you think there's enough and do more potatoes than you think you need because there is never enough of those. He'll have to come over and help me make it one of these days then he can see for himself. Anyway he's got a few portions to eat now, Crystal won't eat it because she despises kidney and swede which are both in it.
This morning I'm making Mary Berry's victoria sponge, some birthday biscuits, veggie flapjacks and sweetcorn and ricotta fritters. I also need to put my sewing away so that Esben doesn't get hold of the pins, needles and scissors when they arrive this afternoon.
Have a good day.12 -
Morning folks.Ruby- I'm so very sorry about your news, it's no consolation that you were so close to it. Life's been so unsettling for you for so long I hope that the senior management / HR can sort something out for you. 🥰My GP appointment yesterday went fine, I need something to help me sleep and calm my anxiety overnight. It's those dark nights when thoughts overwhelm me so we'll see how it goes.Overnight cloud again so no sight of any stars again. Today I'll be heading down the peninsula to a wee cafe and gift shop just to see what's around. Before I go I have the DW to empty. My hugs and thoughts to our poorlies. Happy Friday to all.13

Morning all,
Ruby, so sorry that you didn’t get the job, and for all the anxiety you are facing, I’m thinking of you.
TA, I was wondering how Sparkle got on yesterday with the carrier, glad it went smoothly, I hope these new tablets work for her.
Thinking of you all.Not much to report on here. Yesterday, I kept getting very hot and cold in second intervals and I went to bed in the afternoon as I felt rough, not sure if a bug, or if I overdid it with unloading the shopping etc. So, I have a quiet day planned, I will try and find some less taxing tasks to do.
DH said yesterday that he will cook our evening meal of a ‘cooked breakfast’, which I am looking forward to. He also said he will do our breakfast porridge. He is wishing to learn how to cook, so he said to me yesterday evening, ‘don’t tell me, what I need is 50 ounces of oats per person!’ Then he thought .... ‘no that can’t be right, must be grams.’ I had a wonderful vision of a mountain of porridge before us at the breakfast table.
Well, I must get up and moving.
Take care all.

Good morning
Ruby, I'm sorry you didn't get the job.
Cold and drizzly here, I have plans to do more tidying in the garden but will need to fortify myself with more coffee first☕.
Spent a long time yesterday trying to organise insurance for the new car, although I have been given the number plate the car is not registered, my insurers said they could do it but I seem to have been going round in circles😖 Will try again today
Need to put the pork in the slow cooker as we are having a pork dinner tonight.
Have a good day 🌻11
