Free Cavity Wall Insulation "Upgrade" - worthwhile? Who really gains?

Thanks for your post and apologies for the slow reply. There was no mention of U-values, that's just something I looked into myself to satisfy my own curiosity about whether their door-to-door person was being honest. Given how much he said the existing mineral wool was 'no good' and 'prone to problems', it seemed to me like it was just a case of saying anything to get the homeowner to agree to the 'no brainer' free insulation. It wasn't exactly a hard sell, but he spoke to quickly and was clearly in a rush to cover every house as quickly as he could!I haven't heard from them yet re the installation date (application still pending approval by council I assume), but when they do call I'll ask for more details before cancelling. Though it would be nice if they'd come back and fill the test holes with mortar instead of clear silicone - have a feeling they'll not bother though once I cancel. But that's hardly the end of the world. There was a night and day difference in our old house when going from no cavity wall insulation to having insulation. I think that was expanding foam which I believe it better than EPS beads anyway. No such issue with cold walls or quickly dropping temperatures in this house as it stands so indeed, I think marginal gains are to be had, and more chance of issues I didn't have due to a rushed job."If it ain't broke..."0
