Baratt smith brown and solarplicity

i received a message from Barratt smith brown saying that they are the collection agency for solarplicity telling me that someone else was asking for money and to ignore their email I wasn't aware I owed solarplicity anything as I left them 2 years ago.

not sure if this is a scam or if i do owe money but i am unable to log into anything for Solarplicity .

any advice as i dont live at that address anymore and this email has come out of the blue. 

anyone else had this ????

Strange. I paid off any money owed to another agency collecting on behalf of solarplicity. I got the email today there are willing to half the charge....told them where to go

By "a message" do you mean a text or email? If so then that can safely be ignored - correspondence in writing is required to chase debts.  Absolutely don't do anything that might acknowledge any debt particularly if you think that you're unlikely to owe anything.

If what you have is a letter through the post, then if you loo at the Debt Free wannabe board announcement posts you will find a template there for the "Prove it" letter which is the first thing to send them.

Thanks EssexHebridean, for the above info, i had an email form a company called DS collections, i have emailed them for proof of debt and heard nothing will now delete the email and not worry about it.

I had the same and have reported them to the ICO for allowing this data breach. I recommend you do the same. What is to stop this happening again?

I recieved in 4 November and again around 30 December emails from Debts Solved Ltd. On the 4 November also got an email from Barratt Smith Brown saying not to pay this company, as they are the only company appointed by Price Bailey who are the anministators of Solarplicity-I email BSB who stated that Pricce Bailey had reported this to the ICO and confirmed my account was settled. The company that calls itself Debts Solved Ltd has a bank accouns sort code that tracks to Wise Payments Limited-who ever they are! I have also giot some odd spams relating to the energy supply at my house that seems to know my name-they may or may not be related. Looks to me very clearly like a spam-one that has information that has leaked; from Solarplicity at some point
