Old Gas Cooker/Ventilation Rules ...
When we moved into our house a while back, a Rangemaster 55 gas cooker was installed, which we still have. It's been some time since we last had it serviced and I'm looking to arrange for a gas registered engineer to visit for another service soon. I'm a little concerned as I've read that, with new installs, ventilation (window/vent) is required in the kitchen - we do not have this - only a window in our adjacent small utility room (I keep both the connecting door and window open when cooking). Does anyone know if the "new" rules apply to pre-installed gas cookers? Ventilation has not been an issue when we've had it serviced in the past. We do have an unvented cooker hood and a C/M alarm, but no extractor fan in the (medium sized) kitchen itself. Am I worrying unnecessarily, or should we take action now to increase the ventilation? Any advice from "those in the know" would be appreciated!
Wins since 2009 = £17,600
MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS

Woodburning stoves below 5kW aren't required to have additional ventilation. If the total power of the burners (including oven, if gas) less than 5kW, then I'd imagine you wouldn't need a dedicated vent.Does the instruction book say? It'll probably be available online if you've lost it.1

I'm not a gas engineer but ages ago when my floor standing gas boiler had a service [long since removed] the fitter declared it unsafe due to poor ventilation, rules had changed so despite it being satisfactory for over 30 years it no longer wasThe kitchen it was sited in was open plan so had a house full of air to draw on but they wanted me to fit an air vent despite there already being one in the nearby pantryHe serviced it & stuck a "due not use" notice on it with accompanying paper work for me giving details of failure. I removed the notice & carreid on as before and am still hereYou'll have to make your own mind up should something similar occurEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1
