Google Home App - any experts can offer advice?

I have a Google Home Mini and a smart plug - linked to my gmail account on my phone - all works fine.
I hope this question is going to make sense...
My dad has a Google Home Mini and for some reason it wont set it up on his Nokia Android phone as it keeps erroring out. When I am there, I can add it to my own google home, so I think the device and wifi is fine, but I dont really want to leave it like that.
My questions is this, if I go round with my own phone and inside the Google Home app 'add another account', and add his gmail account, then is this simply giving that other account access to my existing Google devices or can I set up my dads Mini on his account (using my phone), remove his account from my phone and then leave it with him?
I suspect that once setup, the google home mini will just work and show in his own Google Home app - it just wont allow him to set it up.
Thanks

Not tried it, but, theoretically it should work......If not you shouldn't have anything to lose when you delete it from your phone. At least it will prove it's not just his account that's stopping it for some reason.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

If the home mini is linked to your phone it will give answers specific to your account such as calendar items etc. so it is better if it is linked to your dad's phone.
Perform a factory reset on the mini so you are starting from scratch. When you plug it in use your dad's home app to try and set up the device to his home.1 -
OK, just to answer this just in case anyone searches in the future.
Added my dads gmail account to the 'add another account' on the Google Home app on my phone, set up the Google Home Mini under this second account, all linked fine.
Dad opens up Google home app on his own phone and can access/control the device that is now attached to his account, second account deleted from my phone.
All good - no idea why his phone wouldnt allow him to set it up but no big deal with the workaround.2
