Water meters

A meter should be cheaper than an RV charge .ESPECIALLY ON A 4 BEDROOM PROPERTY .I would be annoyed if a property purchase did not have a water meter ,as said they are becoming the norm .0

OP, you can check this if you have access to your meter. Turn off all taps, make sure any toilets have finished filling, that appliances like dishwashers and washing machines are not running and then check the meter. It shouldn't be moving. If it is, you have a leak on your side of the meter, or there's something like a faulty ball valve in your loft tank that means it's constantly filling/overflowing. Can you see your overflow outlets from outside? Any of them dripping or running?ssparks2003 said:Have you checked that you don't have a leak if your bill is constantly rising so is the usage
£87 a month is an awful lot. We pay around £400 p.a. for a household of four people, sometimes five people.0 -
Contact your water supplier and ask about special rates. We have a meter but because my son gets dla and his condition requires us to use more water our bill is capped. Our bill is capped at £35 regardless of how much we use.5

You should definitey look into leaks or the way you use the water. The two of us only pay about £8 per month so there is certainly something wrong.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
I think with those who think £87 a month is a lot and you should (or get the water company) to check for leaks.
There are only of us but I think we are above average water users paying £17 a month. A couple of years ago. the usage and cost went up dramatically, the water company checked and there was a leak at the water meter itself. They replaced the water meter and we got a refund for the overbilling.1
