Green energy price increase due to gas price increase

Hi

Bulb is a green energy provider, octopus claims their energy is 100% green. However both of them increase the prices because of gas price increase

at which point is the gas price affecting the production of green energy?

Arguably, there are only three truly green energy suppliers. These suppliers have a derogation from the Ofgem Cap and they are allowed to pass on any increases in the cost of producing green energy to their customers. Bulb and Octopus do not hold Ofgem derogations. Sadly, most supplier claims of green energy are mired in a fog of offsets such as REGOs.

I went with Good Energy deliberately several years ago because of their green credentials.  They are not subject to the ofgen cap so they are jolly expensive - my utility bill just went up 20%.  But they are pretty good so I'm happy to stick with them.

'truly green' is still debatable as they are not time-matched, only annual consumption matched.

So without the use of non-green supply to the grid they would not get through the night on a lot of days when the wind doesn't blow...
