    Santander locally now have 3 branches left out of 7-10. Area population is 100s of thousands. Average 1 hourish  round trip.

    Result ++++online banking.

    ++++Long waiting time for CS. It gets longer with every branch closure.

    Bank with Santander, and get compo for " your call is important" waiting like me.

    The latest, if the branch ATM goes wrong and you complain in branch,  branch staff have to join the wider public CS telephone queues to resolve. More waiting - More compo.

    £105 in 9 months. Santander accounts can be a nice little earner. :)B)

    As a Natwest/RBS/Ulster Bank current account holder, you can cash with your smartphone app, much like you can get cash with your debit card. Where shops are offering cashback at the tills, they are offering the cashback to you whether you pay with the physical debit card or through ApplePay etc with your smartphone, for any UK debit card. These options are provided to cater for the twindling number of people who are still using much cash these days.
    I've never been offered debit card cashback via GooglePay - only Chip and Pin with the physical card

    Life is too short for serial complaining - it's a mediocre bank with mediocre service; accept it or more on.

    I've now got my £130 switching incentive and awaiting the crediting of a retailer offer then I'll be saying goodbye Santander promptly on the next viable switching offer.
  • Hi everybody,
    There seem to be quite a lot of people on these forums complaining about various banks.  I have current accounts with five different banks and I've never had a bad experience with any of them.  I opened my first bank account in 1981.
    Not sure if I am just lucky with financial institutions or if all the complainers simply expect too much?  The solution to most issues which arise on these forums is to have multiple options for any eventuality, which has been said many times over.
    Have a Good Evening.

    I agree. With regards to smartphone ownership, I have had mine for several years, cost £64 refurbished as new from Tesco , £5/month sim only, so no need to spend a fortune. What I like about using financial apps on it is it`s a back up in case any problems I have with my computer including occasional home wifi drop outs (I can almost always get a signal on my smartphone) plus it is very portable.
