I find that when people talk about online agents, everyone tends to assume PB. They are quite expensive for online, and there seem to be plenty of unsatisfactory reports.

My personal selling experience with an alternative online, Strike, was positive. The total bill was zero, even the solicitor was confused by it when they got to the completion statement.

At valuation, they suggested listing higher than I had planned, the price I had in mind was based on recent nearby sales. The viewings were easy to manage through their app. I had a friend test the process of booking a viewing, which was done by phone, so potential buyers didn't need to use the app or register.

I took my own photos which I preferred as I could take time staging them, and you can update photos whenever you like which I did based on feedback.

We had quite a few viewings then an offer at asking price. They did step away quite a bit after that, but perhaps that was because everything progressed quickly anyway so there wasn't really any need for pushing things faster.

They asked if I'd like to use their conveyancer or mortgage broker, I declined and they didn't mention it again.

Clearly not everyone's experience will be the same, and in some cases local agents' knowledge will be invaluable, in this case I achieved the price I wanted, and sold quicker than similar properties nearby listed with high street agents.

Yes I've been keeping my eye on Strike. Anyone know if there are any threads/comments from folk using them?

Strike don't pretend to be an online agency . They allow sellers to advertise via Rightmove and Zoopla but the seller does everything.

On Purple Bricks, to look at a property you have to create an account enter lots of valuable marketing data etc and it's a pain to get hold of them when there is an issue setting up an account. We didn't bother to look at that house in the end  it was just too much hassle which makes me wonder how many other potential viewings are lost.
Where we were previously, one of the most expensive houses in that area went on for sale with purple bricks which reading here makes me wonder if the owners were cheap or actually serious. Before we left, the house was listed with another estate agent.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.
