Word 2016 won't remember spelling ignores or adds

I've got Office 2016 and have gone through the spell check numerous times but whenever a highlighted word in red is amended it remembers the correction until I close the document and reopen it.
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

Have you tried to re-install it? On occasions I have had problems so I removed and reinstalled and then it worked fine.

Go to File > Options > Proofing
1. Ensure "Suggest from main dictionary only" is unchecked
2. Click on "Custom Dictionaries" and check all dictionaries are ticked and have "All languages" set
