O/S Daily Tuesday 2 November 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, drying up underfoot, but temperature has really dropped and air feels cool.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/rice with beans/veg. Tonight will be LO's from roast - have already preped potatoes, carrots and broc, so just need to re-heat meat in gravy and cook veg.
Yesterday was manic as expected and today isn't likely to be that different - so another busy one. At least yesterday I got some of the prep done for the colleague behind me so they won't have a too bad start to the day. I'm hoping that whoever is in front of me tomorrow will do me the same as I know Thursday will be a busy start - we'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Lovely clear morning, I can see the stars! Washing in the machine should be finished soon, I may hang it out today as it's supposed to stay dry.
Busy day at work but I left a little early to see the Rainbow Warrior sail up the Clyde on it's way to COP26. Thankfully there was a delay due to the tide so I saw it go under the Erskine Bridge, a bit of a tight squeeze and quite a sight. Met DD and the little one at the viewpoint which was a bonus. Glad I didn't have to go home over the bridge as it had been closed so major gridlock all round.
Thinking of the poorlies as always, also wondering if tru will come back for the Christmas carols?
Take care and have a good Tuesday. XX13 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
The temperature has dropped here and is forecast to go lower still. I'm on the home run with washing now, I can only do a load of two at the most as it's difficult to get stuff dry.
Our new neighbours are having trouble coming to terms with relying on solar power. They have no shore power connected, it's being fitted this week but even with that they won't be able to run everything they want.
I'm often amazed by hols little research people do before buying a boat.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.14 -
Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.How exciting to see the Rainbow Warrior Camelot, I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering if travelling to and from work was a problem at the moment. I too have also been wondering if Tru would come back for Christmas, hope she does.Hester, your neighbours mustn't have realised how solar power works and that you actually need sunshine!!Yesterday was an ok day, went to the reading group in the library, there were only 7 of us but it's a start.I'm planning to do some serious housework today, (rolls sleeves up)Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of our poorlies, take care folks15

Morning folks. It's a very cold start here, I've been lying in bed awake since about five a.m. just looking at the twinkling stars, something I really missed when in Glasgow.Yesterday the gardener came at noon and did great work in the front clearing out more rogue bramble and cutting back the huge honeysuckle bush. She took a fab photo of my cottage with a rainbow right over it.This morning the bloke from the blind company is coming back to fit the solar power unit to the bathroom blind and the hub to connect the blinds to the Wi-Fi and then to my phone. Once he's been I need to take the garden waste to the tip and bring more logs in before hunkering down for the day. There's chilli and rice for lunch, I must remember to get some frozen peas when I'm out as I miss having them in my mince dishes.I hope everyone can keep warm and cosy. Hugs to our poorlies, happy Tuesday to all.15

Morning all
Cold here this morning and there is a frost on OH's car mine is under the car port so no scraping for meoff to work today and its my interview at 12
I honestly cant think of the last time I had an interview, Ive been in this job for 8 years and had no interview as I was a volunteer and got offered the job, it was the same with my previous job so I think its about 26 years since I had an interview ! I am a bit nervous about it but what will be will be, I am as prepared as I can be thanks to the lovely Nels so we will see !
Cottage pie for dinner with some veg, the pie is made and in the fridge so I just need to heat it through and do some veg, there is a veggi one in the freezer for dd from the last time I made one.
DW to empty before work and I will see if there is enough washing to put a load on before I go.
I messaged Marie the other day but have not heard back, I hope she is doing ok xx
Have good days all xx14 -
Good luck Ruby, you're well prepared so all will be well. Xx12

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It feels much colder here too this morning but at last no rain is forecast! Hallelujah! The heating is on to warm the place up a bit.
It's my usual Tuesday meet up day with oldest friend for morning coffees and lunch and, of course, much chit chat, It should be a bit quieter today now the kids are back at school. To be fair, last week there was only one table of noisy kids (and adults!) the rest were well behaved.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Take care one and all and have a good day whatever you are up to xx
Good luck RUBY my fingers are crossed. Well done NELS for preparing you so well xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Good Morning all,
I am another who has been thinking of Tru, I have recently been reminiscing of so many people who have posted here over the years.
Not much planned for today, I need to pace myself. I don’t wish to be idle though, so I will menu plan, do some shredding of old paperwork (it never ends, I am sure it breeds!) and do the final load of laundry.
I did not get to my parents yesterday, but have planned to visit tomorrow. They sounded fine when I spoke on the phone, but I feel happier to see them as sometimes you get a more complete picture of how they are coping.Csarina, I hope your old neighbour has settled in her new home, and that you had a nice visit with her yesterday.
Dumpling, those roast potatoes sound good! I haven’t bought lard for years, it brought back memories of childhood as mum used to use lard for roast potatoes, I can see a block being put in my online shop.
dp1, how did your dgd enjoy her ballet?
It’s time I make a move, so hope you all have a good day.
Take care.
ETA: Good Luck Ruby, I’ll be thinking of you.
