    we exchanged and completed on the same day, no chain indeed. no moving company involved and since we had 1 week between completion and tenancy coming to an end, we had many days to move with no pressure at all and without taking time off work.

    I suggest that you follow your solicitor's advice. He's the one that has to make all the bits of paper and the money move around smoothly. If you follow your estate agent's advice, and it all goes wrong, he'll just shrug and blame the solicitor.
