Can't get through to anyone on the eBay phone numbers

I was trying to use and auction tool and allowed it to link to my account.
A couple fo days later I get a notification from eBay that they have locked my account due to suspicious activity. When I try an log in it says to reset my password but when I try, it says my account is locked and I need to speak to a Customer Support person.
The web pages do not give me a phone number, only a chat facility.
When I use the chat, the person on the other end says that they can't help and I have to speak to someone on the phone.
The two phone number I have been given are 0800 358 6552 and 0345 355 3229.
If I call the 0345 number it just goes straight to an automated message telling me to go to the web page.
If I call the 0800 number, it asks me for a passcode (I can't get a passcode as I can't log in to get one!) or "I don't have one". Then it asks for my DOB and asks for my problem. Sometimes it sends me to the Seller Account issue message and sometimes it tries to put me through to someone. Then I end up with the automated message again!
I can never seem to get to speak to anyone.
What am I doing wrong?

Click the hard of hearing tab on the Ebay help page and it allows you to email instead, I've only phoned once and it was a nightmare and a complete waste of time1
