Safe Buyer Scheme

We have sold our house and are buying a new build which won't be ready for a few weeks. In the meantime we are living with family.
Our solicitor has suggested we use the "Safe buyer scheme".We've not come across this before and I wondered if anyone else has used it and what is involved.

No idea. Didn't your solicitor give you any clues about what it was?0

Not a lot. Last time we bought a house was in the 1980s. The solicitor was an old family friend who guided us through the process. Now we are using a firm recommended by the builders. It all seems much more confusing than it was back in the 1980s or perhaps we are just a lot older!0

No. We are cash buyers0

From a quick google search, it appears to be related to some verification tool to ensure your money is being transferred to a legitimate account.

I normally just pay a nominal amount over e.g. £100 and ring them to confirm they have received it, then transfer the rest.1
