Driving License Upgrade Question (Automatic to Manual)

I have had an automatic license since 2007 and have a test coming up to upgrade it to a manual one. I am a little concerned that I might be considered a 'new pass' driver when I pass the manual test. DVLA currently shows as B license from 3rd May 2007 with a 78 code (Auto only) under endorsements.
Does anyone know if the 78 will just be removed with the same valid from start date or if it will now show as valid from the date I pass the manual test?

AFAIK the code will be removed, nothing else should change.
Whatever, you certainly won't be subject the the New Drivers Act.1 -
The New Drivers' Act applies for two years from the date you passed a driving test for the first time:
Probationary period for newly qualified drivers.
(1)For the purposes of this Act, a person’s probationary period is, subject to section 7, the period of two years beginning with the day on which he becomes a qualified driver.
(2)For the purposes of this Act, a person becomes a qualified driver on the first occasion on which he passes—
(a)any test of competence to drive mentioned in paragraph (a) or (c) of section 89(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988;
There's a bit more about the places such tests must take place but they need not worry you for the purposes of your question. Section 7 which it says the provision is subject to describes the early termination of that probationary period. The main provision of that section is to say that you can only suffer evocation under this law once. If your licence is revoked under the NDA and you subsequently pass your test again, you cannot have your licence revoked under the NDA for a second time, even if you accumulate another six points within two years of passing your first test.

Thanks guys so it seems I wont be subject to the new drivers act which is good
I'm really hoping it will show as category B from 3rd May 2007 but with just the 78 removed
I'm guessing this will be the case if I'm not subject to the new drivers act as otherwise verification of that would be difficult???0 -
Just photocopy your current licence, the new one will be valid from the date of issue.You won't be subject to the New Drivers Act, but a photocopy of the old one will help when you claim to have been driving for 14 years and your licence was issued yeaterday.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)
