Need help desperately with printer

I need help desperately, my printer isn't printing, and dd needs homework printed out tonight.
Can anyone help me?? I've got an epson photo R220. It's running back and forward, and feeding the paper through, but it isn't printing clearly. The best I've been able to get is just a very faint indistinguishable print. i'm trying to print a document. The printer has been disconnected for a couple of weeks, and I have just refilled the ciss, but surely neither of these facts could be causing the problem. It was working fine before I disconnected it:confused:.
Any ideas??

Try running the head cleaning cycle a few times to prime the cartridges.

Also you could checkout this site.

As previous poster says, try the head cleaning utility.

From personal experience, Epson printers do seem very susceptible to drying out and blocking up if you use non-original carts or refills. My Epson did this when I was away on business for a month, and it was a pain to get it running again (I ended up having to wipe the head with a piece of cloth soaked in isopropanol alcohol to clear it).

I've gone back to using original carts (expensive, I know) and it hasn't happened since.
  • Thanks, guys. Part of the problem was that it was so long since I had done it, I couldn't find the head cleaning facility.
Anyway, I've managed to get an acceptable, though poor quality print for tonight, but I'll need to give it further attention tomorrow.

  • I think I'll try downloading the latest drivers for it as well, see if that makes any difference.

you can find the head cleaning facility using the file/print option in the print dialouge box click properties then the Maintenance tab, do a nozzle check first and then head cleaning if it needs doing.
